This was s good introduction to the Big Island.
Tommy was a great guide - we stopped regularly - even at places not on the tour. Well worth going to see places on the island you wouldn't usually see as all the usual tourist parts. A long trip but well worth it.
Our tour guide and bus driver Jeff was the best and most relatable person for a trip around the whole Island. He always had something enlightening to talk about at every part of the 11 hour tour. This tour was the best day of the whole vacation.
Great tour! Didnt know the island had so much beautiful vegetation. Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.
The tour was amazing! Jeff our tour guide was very knowledgeable. We made several stops - volcano park was spectacular and we had a sumptuous lunch there. The black sand beach was beautiful and we did see a turtle sunning on the beach. It was a very comprehensive tour and well worth the time and money. We were treated to the history and folk lore of the island.
Excellent. Highly recommended.
Had a wonderful full day of fun. Our guide, KALA just halla for Kala gave us a rich understanding of the land and culture, and the history that brought us to today. Being aboriginal Hawaiian allowed him to share insight and a taste of the beautiful Hawaiian people, and the multi-cultural influences on the island. He made us feel like VIPs and in the Hawaiian way, a little family for the day. We were thrilled to see turtles, volcano, waterfalls, taste amazing homemade ice cream, coffee, shortbread, macadamia nuts, chocolate and a delicious lunch. The lunch was so well organized, we filled out our menu ahead, he called it in, and when we got there, our name was on a table and the delicious food arrived soon after the mahi mahi with macadamia crust was fantastic !. Really enjoyed the day and recommend this for a taste of the island.
Great day! Good way of getting to know the entire island and learn a lot about Polynesian culture and history thanks to our lovely guide. Definitely would recommend!
Great way to see all the sights in one day. 'Cousin Jeff' made it an enjoyable day with his banter and knowledge. Balance between number of stops and driving was about right. Tour was just as described on website.
Excellent Excellent Excellent!
The tour was the best buy I had in Hawaii. It is fairly long and it can be a bit tiring but it will give you a taste of the island must sees! I would have included Hawi but I understand it might extend the time even too much!
Our driver was fantastic, he talked and talked and gave plenty of details in the most funny and non-boring way!
A must do on the island!
Jeff was our driver. He talked the whole 12 hours. All great information history, folklore, current events. It was a great way to see the island and decide where to go back and explore. It was planned for the beginning of the week and allowed me to cross of some visits and add on more exciting ones.
We had a great experience. Our tour guide, Kala, was very personable and knowledgeable. We met some great people and enjoyed seeing the sites and learning about the island and its history.
Honestly, we were impressed. Is it long, yes but well worth the time and money to learn about the culture, tourist stops and great eateries. Kala was our guide and a local to the island. Over the 11 plus hours there were plenty of opportunities to eat, bathroom breaks and even a nap if you needed iy
Great tour and great guide. The tour covers the whole big island and its a pretty comprehensive tour
Excellent tour A must for first time visitors well worth the cost.
Our guide had such a dry yet hilarious sense of humor. My family and I had a great time touring the island and getting to know the local spots.
This tour gave me the opportunity to view the entire island ina luxurious bus with a knowledgeable guide who was fun and entertaining.
It was a really good tour. I learned a lot about the Island...
We had a very interesting and informative tor guide. It is a time to remember all of the sights that we saw on this tour. He let us have time to look around and take photos.
If you have not been to the Big Island before, this trip was very helpful to see what sites and activities there are to enjoy. Long day but worth it
I can't think of a better way to tour the entire island. Loved the scenic views from the tour bus. Great tour guide. I also enjoyed the stops on the way around the island. Karen S. from Chicago
For a person who lived on the island of Oahu all my life and never vacationed on the Big Island this tour was amazing and educational. The Grand Island Circle Tour is a great jump start to see a large part of the island. Our tour guide was entertaining, informative, and fun.
Hilary was very knowledgeable and kept the ride fun with his stories
I recommend doing this tour on your first full day on the island for two reasons: first, it will give you a good overview of what's there so you'll know where to go on the rest of your vacation, and second, it starts early, and if you're coming from the mainland USA, you're going to be at least two hours ahead so you'll be up early anyway.
I was told the bus would be at my hotel at 7 am, we got to the pick up point about 6:45 and he was already there. Lunch is at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, if you choose to eat there the other option is to bring your own lunch, you'll be given a menu on the bus, make your selection and it's called ahead and your table is ready for you when you get there.
Our driver, Kala, seemed to know everything there is to know about the island, its history, and Hawaiian culture, and freely shared it.
This was a very well done tour. I especially appreciate having been guided by a native Hawaiian who speaks both English and Hawaiian and knows a lot of the native culture of the islands.
It was our first time in Big Island so we booked the Grand Circle Island Tour to see most of it. We enjoyed every stops.
Great tour. Very enjoyable.
It was a perfect way to see the highlights of the whole island. We enjoyed our tour leader and meeting other tourists. We would definitely recommend it!
Our driver was very knowledgeable and made our experience one to remember. He had a lot of interesting facts and kept our tour bus engaged the whole trip. The stops were also very informational and showed the best sites on the island!
We had a wonderful driver, Kimo Sabe, who keep us informed with the behind the scenes story along the way. Good way to start a stay at the big Island.
We really enjoyed our all day trip around the island. Our tour guide/driver was excellent. He was very informative as to the history of the Island and all of the sites. We enjoyed each of our many stops along the way and are so glad that we spent the to see the Island. Will definitely take other tours through Viator.
Wonderful tour. We had a great time and enjoyed everything! Our guide, Hilary, knew everything about the island and kept us entertained with history and interesting stories all day, I'd recommend this tour to everyone coming to the big island.
Greg was awesome
This was an excellent tour. Our guide, Hilary, gave us an informative commentary for the whole trip, I would highly recommend. Thanks to Hillary we now have detailed knowledge of the economics and history of the Big Island. Mahalo, we thoroughly enjoyed.
I didn't think being driven around in a bus for the 12 hours was going to be good, but it was great! You get to see a lot. And the places we visited were always at the right time. For example, the first stop was a coffe farm where there were plenty of samples to try. If you didn't get your morning coffee when you had to get up at 6:45am to catch this bus, no problem, you can get your coffee on this stop, with plenty of different flavours to try. And the lunch place we stopped, Volcano House, has a beautiful view of the crater with smoke coming out of it. The lunch you have to pay for, but the driver gives you a menu before we even get there, and it's all reasonably priced. The only complaint would be that it sometimes felt rushed, but then again, we would be there well into the evening.
It was an excellent trip. We got to see the places that were listed. We love the Volcano National Park. My only regret was it was really foggy and cloudy when we were up at the Jaggar's viewpoint. But that's beyond anybody's control.
This was a fantastic tour. We were picked up form the hotel at 6am and returned at 6pm having seen so much of the Big Island. We both fell in love with the place. We went to the Kona coffee place where you can try all the different coffees, we went to the macadamia nut factory, saw a live volcano whilst having lunch. We walked through the rainforest, saw beautiful waterfall, walked through lava tube, went to chocolate factory, orchid farm, several beaches just to name a few things! There was definitely something for everyone on the tour and it gave you a flavour of what the island is like with all it's micro climates. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Excellent tour. We saw so much. Vast information. Great way to see the Island in just one day. I have already suggested this tour to others.
It was an excellent tour of the island!
A great tour and very informative. A great way to see this beautiful island. Volcanoes and Waterfalls where amazing to see
This tour was amazing!
Loved the tour, Our guide, Hilary, was amazing, We learned so much and did so in comfort.
We really enjoyed the tour, and Sal was an awesome guide!!! This is our first time on the island, and we learned a lot about the history, Hawaiian culture, plants, etc, and now have a much better idea where we want to go during the rest of our trip.
The best part of the tour was the knowledge of our tour guide Greg. We did the tour on a Thursday in one of the small buses so the group interaction was also fun.
I love Sal. He was amazing! The tour was great and very informative.
What a wonderful trip. We saw and learnt so much, our driver Greg was full of useful information which made everything very interesting. We covered the important parts of the Island but obviously the best was the volcano. Found the stops at the chocolate factory and macadamia nut factory a waste of time I was there to see things not buy things!
The driver Greg was very knowledgable, kept the long tour interesting. Would take it again
It is a great trip to start with. You get a taste of everything on the Island. We also got a better idea of travel times for other excursions we wanted to do. Our bus driver Sal was very informative.
This was a great introduction to the island with a very capable driver/guide. We had enough time at the stops and still got to see a lot. I would have appreciated more details in the advertising at the front end -- lunch options, OK to bring snacks, etc.
This was one of the best tours I have been on. The Tour Guide was outstanding, really knew the history of the Big Island. Fantastic to see volcanoes, lava tube etc. The drive through the rainforest was such a contrast to the volcanic rocky areas. It was a long day but worth the early start. Saw so much. A good group of fellow passengers. Would certainly recommend this tour. Barbara Finley Melbourne, Australia
Guide/driver was so fun!! He has told us all the stories, facts and curiosities of the Island! A lot of nice and interesting stops too...
A wonderful tour to see all the island in a very short time. It was a long day but well worth it.
This tour was amazing!
We had a very informative tour guide and the day was very interesting
Amazing! A must when visiting the Big Island so you can see all it has to offer!
This was a very long but fascinating tour. The sights and driver were very interesting and entertaining. I'd say this is more of an adult tour, as young children and teens may quickly lose interest. The amount of time spent at each stop was definitely adequate, and I felt it was worth the money. We definitely gained a lot of insight into the island and gained a deeper understanding of earth science. I'd try to sit on the right side of the bus (the passenger side), if given the chance to redo one thing because that side had better oceanic views.
Very long day but great tour.
Couldn't have been better. Our guide, Greg, was superb!
Great tour of the Big Island without you driving and looking for the landmark stops. Our driver John took care of us for the 12 hour trip. John educated us as well as showed us everything around the island. The tour includes stops in the morning at a Kona Coffee store, black sand beach, Kailua Town for lunch (on your own but food was good) then on to the Volcano National Park and Jagger Museum. We saw smoke but no lava flows from the viewing area but walked through a lava tube (like a cave). We went to Hilo for a stop at a macadamia packaging place for snacks. We went to falls in Hilo then a long drive along the east and north coasts back to Kona area. Greatest way to spend one day viewing the entire island. We had a rental car but wanted this tour early on our visit to get a bearings on the areas to view. Highly recommend this tour.
Tour guide, Hilary, was great, very informative, and helpful, loved him. He kept the tour going with wonderful historoy, folk stories and legends, and up to day information about the Big Island. When we went back to places we wanted to spend more time at his information made our own tour enhanced. We love history and that we had on this trip as well as where all the good food and snacks, oh of course the clean bathrooms, are.
We rented a car but decided to take this tour our first day to get oriented and plan what we wanted to return to see. We got to see so much more than we expected. Sea turtles sun bathing on the black sand beach, Volcano National Park, walking through a lava tube and the vast and varied landscape. It certainly saved us a lot of gas wandering around and missing so much. We definitely recommend this trip if you plan to rent a car and especially if you don't!
A great experience, great guide who was very knowledgable, we got to see everything we wanted and more without having to worry about getting lost if we were to drive ourselves.
This was well worth the time, 12 hours. Our guide Hilary, was wonderful giving so much information about the island.
John was the most informative tour guide ever! He provided dates, great stories and knew history, plants
Etc. of the island. Very interesting and informative. The tour with John was definitely the highlight of our trip.
The your went to every destination we'd wanted to visit...highly recommend
Excellent tour guide, Rick is very informative and knowledgeable of the Big Island. Great way to sample the island if you do not have much time or not planning to drive around.
The tour guide gave lots of information and was funny also, this was great to do in the beginning so we could see where to go later in our trip.
Our guide was fantastic, very knowledgable about the island! If you only have a short time it is a great tour to see the island :)
We had a fantastic day with Cousin Greg. A really friendly, knowledgeable guide who was happy to answer any questions and even threw in some comedy.
A great way to see the whole island, didn't find any of the stops boring. Spent approx 2 hours in the volcano National Park which was amazing, highlight of the trip. Such beautiful scenery and a really good group of people.
We had the opportunity to ride with Tommy on the 26th of December, 2014; and thanks to him our trip was more enjoyable than we could have possibly expected. He knew so much about the island, it's history, and other bits of trivia that really made the trip fun! His knowledge of volcanic geology and history on the island was incredible! To some it may have been overload but to us he is this vast well rounded source of wonderful island information. We found ourselves quoting Tommy days after the tour! We went back to many places on our own to experience longer the places he pointed out to us. Thank you Tommy for making such a great contribution to the success of our Christmas vacation in Big Island!
Great way to see the entire island.
Best way to see the entire island and see all the sights!
Cousin Greg was very good
This was an outstanding tour!!! Tommy, our tour guide, was full of knowledge which made the trip that much more enjoyable. This was a GREAT way to see Hawaii!!!
This was a great tour and the tour guide, Cousin Greg, was very informative. The bus was quite comfortable. The price of the tour was excellent compared to other tours we have taken around the world. We learned alot about the island and saw thing we probably would have missed if we drove the island by ourselves
This was an absolutely wonderful experience. Don't miss it! Our driver named Sal was so knowledgeable of the Big Island history. Nine stops from the volcanoes, coffee plantation, nut factory etc. Caution, it is a very long day. It is very difficult to take pictures out the bus windows because of the mirror reflections from the other side. Click quick from straight ahead! Would do it again in a heartbeat.
The informative trip was a wonderful way to see the entire island. The time flew by as we got on and off frequently to explore the sights of the island. The bus driver was awesome and knew all about the Hawaiian culture and it was a great value for your buck.
The tour was awesome. The driver was very informative, friendly and funny. It's more than any one individual could see or cover in an eleven hor period. The lunch service and call ahead for orders worked slick. Food was available within minutes of our arrival, hot and ready to eat. Providing a map of the tour was helpful for first timers who wanted to plan another visit. One helpful suggestion would be to label or mark the stops on the map so visitors would know where they were going and/or where they had been.
Excellent tour!!!! So much fun! Tour guide was a little gruff, but able to work around that. Highly recommend this tour for a great over view of the big island!!!!
We all had a great time. Our bus driver was wonderful. He helped our ma in and out bus. Told all us everything about the island. My brother-in-law asked him how does he remember all the information that he has passed on to all of us. His reply was he's lived on the island all his life. He sees things and it triggers facts that he tells everyone. We all want to thank him. Our ma will be 80 years old in November. I called and said we was late. It was very nice they waited for us at pick up point. We was 5 minutes late. And my other Brother-in-law kept being late getting back to the bus.. This tour and bus driver was wonderful. Thank you From L. Peters, Minnesota
I loved it! Great especially if its your first time there, go on one of the first days so you can have additional time to go back and explore places you didn't get to stop at. Very informative, long day but well worth it. Good idea to take an umbrella and towel just in case. Better for couples/singles than families with small children.
Our tour was wonderful. Our tour driver gave us so much information about the island and the people. Our stops gave us adequate time to see the sites. We were impressed with how much we learned about the island of Hawaii, from it's beginnings to present day. I believe our tour guide's name was Haley. I would definitely recommend the tour, especially with our tour guide. He was amazing. Hawai`i is a fascinating island.
Wonderful tour and very interesting.
I learn a lot about the Island. Our tour guide John did a good job.
Great tour we enjoyed. Our tour driver was very informative..Many Thanks Jerry and Sandra
Driver was excellent. His name was Sal Mezza. Tour was excellent also.
Best tour ever. Hilary is a great guide. Good places for the whole family.
Justin did an outstanding job! He made the entire experience fun and educational.
Food was very good given the circumstances. Even had tablecloth and dessert.
Actually it was quite amazing, and provided us with history and information about the volcanic nature of the Big Island! Wonderful. Long, but Wonderful!!
Excellent tour. Great way to see the diversity on the island. Our driver, Tommy, did a great job thru the entire 12 hour trip.
It was so much and informative!!! We were able to enjoy touring the island without stressing about driving or directions. The bus was comfortable and our tour guide, Sal, was wonderful!! It was a great deal and I would definitely do it again!
Our driver made the trip. He was knowledgable and funny at the same time.
Very good experience.Gives a complete idea of the Big Island and you can select places you would like to spend later . Informative as the guide tells you about the culture, food places and shops to pick souvenirs and ofcourse about the Island!
Exactly as expected
Great way to get acquainted with the big island. This was the best.
Hilary was great. He kept to the schedule so the tour didn't run late. He talked the whole time about the island and it's history. The some of the stops were places I wouldn't have known to stop at and we really enjoyed them.
We had a great time with the trip and our guide Hilary! We also got to know a lot about the history from the guide. We also had ample time at all the stops and at no point felt that we needed more time. The tour bus was also very comfortable. It was overall a very good experience and I would recommend this trip to my friends.
Very good day we had fun learnt a lot of the culture and enjoyed it immensely.
We really enjoyed a full day informative tour of the Big Island. Mt Kilauea, black sand beach and turtles were highlights. Tour is easy paced with plenty of comfort stops. Driver was very entertaining.
What a great way to get introduced to the big island. So great to have someone take us around and explain the climate, plant life, and other secrets of the island. It gave us a 'taste' of all there was to see and allowed us to get our bearings and rent a car to go back and visit other things we saw along the way. Great trip.
Excellent tour - worth every cent. Great Tour guide. Yes long but very good.
